Great machine, use it properly

I've had a couple of machines and this is our newest, its compact and looks great. For those that have issue with the pods overflowing or running out the back its because you can easily push the pod holder closed too far, something I found out early on, it needs to be closed gently just so it clips. If its closed too firmly it allows leaks. Very happy with mine

Not the best...returning mine

I purchased this machine (m 5th in the range over a number of years). I was very disappointed. Upgrades to the pod holder have not been for the better. The pods do not pierce correctly causing the coffee to flood down the back of the machine and over your worktops. The water container is difficult to remove as it has no handle is is shaped to the machine. I will be returning this machine in the hope that I can exchange it.

Devastated

This is a lovely machine to look at. However for me it has 3 problems. The fancy drip tray with its slight curve makes some mugs unsteady. The water holder is difficult to remove do to the unnecessary top part. Worst of all, the new style pod holder seems to tear many pods rather than just pierce, causing the pods to gush and leak all over the machine leaving a mess and wasting several of my pods. Such a shame as i like the look of this machine

Happy so far but does need some improvements

This is a lot smaller than the machine it replaced but that isn’t hard as the other had a separate filter coffee section, place for coffee beans, milk frother etc. I love it because it’s compact and quick. I can press a button and it’s done. However, if the pods are not quite right in the holder, you have water everywhere. The pod can be used though as it’s not pieced. Just stop the machine, clean the mess and try again. The cover that goes over the capsule holder is a terrible design. With mine it feels like I’m going to break it every time I close it. I got it on offer so for the price I paid, I do think it was value for money. I would have preferred some capsules with the machine though so I could try different ones without having to buy a full pack straight away. I also wish they did the cappuccino and latte options as decaf as well....

Looks stylish

Handsome machine, good to be able to change the body colour to match with your kitchen decor. Bought to replace my previous manual Piccolo, I like the automatic feature as don't have to stand and watch it. Just a couple of things, when inserting a capsule make sure you fully close the black holder or it won't pierce and you'll get hot water everywhere, plus the 'nose' you need to lift and lower to place the capsule holder in position seems a little flimsy..I hope it won't break. Otherwise very pleased with my 2nd purchase..Love the different coffee's too.

Nice idea, not very good in reality

The De'Longhi Dolce Gusto Colours drinks machine makes a range of hot or cold drinks. The 'colours' in the machines name refers to the three interchangeable coloured plastic panels that come with it and allow you to customise its appearance. I have not yet worked out how to remove the green panel which the machine comes fitted with but, to be truthful, you hardly notice the colour anyhow because it sits behind the water tank and it is not a feature that mattered to me. The footprint of the machine is smaller than the Tassimo which it was to replace but it is a fair bit taller and only just fits under my wall cupboards when sat on the kitchen worktop - fortunately there is no need to leave clearance above the machine for the raising of any covers or for the inserting of anything from above. The removable pod holder is a good idea as it is convenient, easy to keep clean and ensures pods are inserted correctly. Another excellent feature is the scroll wheel which lets you determine the strength/quantity of drink dispensed whilst the LED display clearly shows the chosen setting. The ON/OFF/HOT/COLD lever has a very positive action and, once the quantity has been set, needs only to be pushed left or right depending on whether you wish to make a hot or cold drink. There are some points which detract from the Dolce Gusto Colours machine for me and these were as follows: • There are no sample drinks pods included with the machine so you need to buy some before you can use it. • The user manual has no English instructions and the diagrams are not very informative. • The water tank is not easy to hold when filling from a tap and its shape means that pouring water into it can be a bit tricky. • The pods are full of water when taken out of the machine (after making a drink) and this leaks out into your waste bin. Apparently, in America a "specially-designed bin provided with the machine allows for easy separation of liquid and solid waste." • I have wasted numerous coffee pods (approx. 48 @ approximately 28p per pod when trying to make drinks due to the machine not piercing them correctly. Not only does this mean that the pods are useless but the water still pours out of the machine and floods your worktop. As a final thought I would say that so far I have found that the cost of genuine Dolce Gusto pods is slightly more expensive than the Tassimo pods and the range of drinks offered is not as comprehensive, also the only compatibles that I have seen so far in supermarkets, actually work out even more expensive!
