How can I serve my coffee jelly?
Our coffee jelly recipe doesn’t have to be served on its own. There are so many delicious combinations that you can add to your coffee jelly ingredients list to tantalise your tastebuds. We’ve noted some below – take a look!
Add cream for an authentic Japanese coffee jelly
In Japan, coffee jelly cubes are cut up into squares and placed into a dish. Then, equal parts heavy cream and condensed milk are whisked together slightly before being poured onto the coffee cubes.
With ice cream
A rich twist on jelly and ice cream. Our coffee jelly recipe tastes great with a scoop of classic vanilla ice cream but feel free to experiment with other ice cream flavours!
With milk tea
We’ve probably all had a bubble tea (or boba tea) by now. Instead of tapioca pearls in your boba, popping coffee jelly cubes instead can give a great caffeine twist.
In iced coffee
Similar to the above, placing your coffee jelly cubes in to your iced coffee adds to that coffee flavour that you love. We don’t recommend using them in hot coffee, however, as the cubes will melt!
With cheesecake
No-bake cheesecakes are perfect for coffee jelly. Simply fold the coffee jelly cubes into the creamy mixture before you set the finished cheesecake in the fridge. Or, you could even use coffee jelly cubes as a topping.
Can I make this coffee jelly recipe vegetarian?
Yes! There are many gelatine alternatives for vegetarian and vegan diets that you can use instead of gelatine. Take a look at: agar-agar (which they also use in Japan), Vegan Jel, Vegi Gel and Vege-Gel sachets. The amount of vegetarian/vegan gelatine solution you need may differ, so make sure to check the back of the package.
